Gloucestershire Airport is gearing up for their annual Charity Open Day, which is to be held this Sunday, June 24.
The airport has many special activities planned, with something for all the family to enjoy. Their special guest will be former ATA pilot, Joy Lofthouse, who was recently featured on the BBC programme Spitfire Women. Weather allowing, the BBMF will be conducting a flypast in their Hurricane, and a Spitfire will make up part of the static display. They’ll be games, face painting and an aviation fancy dress competition for the children, and for those that fancy something a little more adventurous, pleasure flights, trial flying lessons and helicopter rides will be available. The Ballooning Network will be operating an evening hot air balloon flight out of the airport, and anyone wishing to be on board is encouraged to get in contact. Visitors will be treated to an aerobatic and wing walking display courtesy of Tiger Airways, and the RAF and Army careers officers will be attending once again with an inflatable assault course and paint ball range.
For those interested in the daily operations at Gloucestershire Airport, staff will be on hand to answer questions and opportunities will be available to visit the Air Traffic Control tower or to find out about flights and package holidays from the airport.
Entrance to the Open Day is free, although visitors will be asked to make a donation to the airport’s nominated charities, Help for Heroes and disabled flying charity, Aerobility.
