Green spaces
Congleton Park lies at the north end of the town and is a fine place to relax and watch the world go by. The park has everything a good park should have, tree-lined avenues, floral displays, a pavilion, a bowling green, a children’s play area and there’s even a river that runs through it in the form of the Dane. It’s also a popular place for dog-walkers if you’re thinking of taking your furry friend along.
Arts and culture
If you’re an art lover, head over to Attitude Gallery on Swan Bank. They regularly feature work by highly acclaimed artists from across the world, they recently hosted pieces by Chicago born street artist Pegasus. The Daneside Theatre located close to Congleton Park host films, plays and music events throughout the year.
A bite to eat
Congleton is bursting with great traditional pubs where you can enjoy a freshly pulled pint or feast on some of the great food on offer. Pecks Restaurant set below Mow Cop in the village of Moreton, near Congleton, has been popular with residents for almost 30 years, you can grab a spot of lunch, afternoon tea, Sunday lunch or their famous ‘Dinner at Eight’. Dine on some top quality pub grub at The Coach and Horses where they have a great menu full of homemade pub classics. There is also the Plough Inn, which is a beautiful rural Cheshire brick inn dating back 400 years, where you can dine, drink or stay. For something a bit more sophisticated, visit Bojangles Brasserie which is a stylish jazz bar and brasserie with a menu full of mouth watering dishes, including stuffed fillet of pork and their catch of the day. If you fancy food with a kick then try Nobonna which is an Indian restaurant with beautiful lakeside views.
Discover the Gritstone Trail
The Gritstone trail is one of the top walks within Cheshire and on clear days you can soak up the views of the Welsh hills and the cathedrals of Liverpool. The trail is located on the edge of the Peak District, and the section of the walk that takes you on towards Rushton Bank may be challenging, however the stunning views of Congleton and Macclesfield make it worth it. There are also plenty more walking routes which explore Congleton and the surrounding areas.
Step back into Tudor times
Little Moreton Hall is the iconic Tudor Manor House located four miles southwest of Congleton. The tumbling architecture of the hall is incredibly impressive and it also boasts some stunning gardens that you can explore. There are guided tours where visiors can discover the historic story of Little Moreton Hall from its foundations to present day. You can even find out about what life might have been like at the hall in Tudor times. Throughout the year the hall runs a series of demonstrations and activities suitable for the whole family.
Parking
There are various car parking facilities across Congleton. For long stay visits there is parking located on Back Park Street, Chapel Street and a large car park on West Street. Free parking for shorter stays can be found on Blake Street/Egerton Street, Roe Street and at the Leisure Centre.
