Florist Zelie grows her own flowers here in Sussex and whips them together into beautiful arrangements. Treat Mum to a gorgeous country-style bouquet of in-season flowers, such as anemones, tulips, hyacinths, forget-me-nots, hellebores, dicentra and wallflowers.
This town florist always has something interesting on offer. For Mother’s Day order a jolly spring bouquet of tulips, hyacinths, ranunculus, narcissi and anemones.
If Mum is green-fingered, head to the nursery at Wych Cross to treat her to something beautiful and fragrant for the garden, such as Clematis montana Elizabeth or Rosa Eglantyne.
Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea in The Grand’s elegant Great Hall is a treat. Enjoy sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and pastries, all washed down with a pot of tea... and perhaps even a glass of champagne. On the last Sunday of each month, a string orchestra plays in the background.
Enjoy afternoon tea in the legendary Grand hotel, which overlooks the sea and the West Pier. The menu designed by executive chef Alan White consists of tea, sandwiches, pastries, cakes, scones and an optional glass of champagne.
Head to the gorgeous historic surrounds of Amberley Castle for a stylish afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, cakes and scones with jam and cream, and (an optional) glass of champagne.
Situated in a 500-year-old building in Steyning, this is a lovely place for fresh homemade scones and cakes with a cuppa. Why not take a visit to the heart of the South Downs National Park for a relaxing lunch in a village with historic buildings and beautiful scenery.

Cashmere
This womenswear boutique on Lewes High Street offers lovely cashmere knits by Ochre Cashmere. The range includes a good choice of pieces, from classic button-up cardigans to flattering tops.
This designer outlet stocks some great brands, including Joseph. Their must-have knits come courtesy of British brand Cocoa Cashmere, which creates luxurious cashmere pieces in contemporary styles.
