The Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells was the setting for the annual Institute of Directors’ Sporting Dinner, sponsored by Clydesdale Bank.

More than 120 members and guests heard guest speaker, Steve Cram MBE, offering a highly entertaining address covering his early years and the focus required to become a world-beating athlete through to some highly amusing anecdotes about his career as a BBC athletics commentator.

The evening raised more than 1,200 for the Aylesford-based Heart of Kent Hospice, whose specialist team offers skilled care, comfort, compassion and hope to people facing the challenge of terminal illness. “This is a highlight in our calendar,” said David Philpott, IoD Kent Chairman. “And we’re delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile cause.”
