Maidstone – There will be a day of activities at the YMCA Sports and Community Centre in Loose on 8 September. http://www.kentsport.org/news_international_paralympic_day_aug11.cfm Sevenoaks - Paralympic Road Cycling at Brands Hatch – Chance to see the Paralympics on the doorstep Tickets for the Paralympics go on sale from 9 September and you have the chance to watch them live right here in Kent. At �10.00 for adults and �5.00 for children and senior citizens, these tickets provide Kent residents with the opportunity to watch world class sport at a genuinely affordable cost. Brands Hatch, situated between Sevenoaks and Dartford will host the Paralympic Road Cycling competition. From 5-8 September 2012, around 225 disabled athletes from 40 nations will race round the course before taking to the surrounding local roads to battle it out to the finish. You can apply for tickets via www.london2012.com to watch from dedicated viewing areas within Brands Hatch or you can just turn up and be a spectator on the roadside for free. Also worth bearing in mind re the Olympic torch:Countywide - It’s not too late to nominate someone to carry the Olympic torchThere is just a month to go before the application process closes to nominate someone who has gone the extra mile and deserves the chance to be in the running to carry the Olympic torch. The torch will travel through the county and so it is a unique opportunity to see Kent’s own residents carrying the torch. Nominate that worthy person or people via the websites of any of the three sponsors, Coca Cola, Samsung and Lloyds TSB. NB Deadlines for nominations via Coca Cola’s website is 5 September and Lloyds TSB nominations close on 12 September and the closing date to nominate via Samsung is 30 September.http://www.london2012.com/games/olympic-torch-relay/presenting-partners/ The Kent 2012 campaign is led and managed by Kent County Council and brings together a range of individuals and organisations which work together to maximise the benefits to the county from the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
