Nestled away off Mapleridge Lane between Chipping Sodbury and Wickwar is the understated entrance to 65 acres of beautifully rural retreat of Lady’s Wood Shooting School. Described as quintessentially English, the school was founded 25 years ago by Michael Pinker who sadly died last year. Since then, Michael’s wife, Karen, has taken over the running of Lady’s Wood and has been determined to keep the school running with the same traditional ethos as it was founded. In addition, Karen has made some needed improvements to facilities and car parking, all of which has been welcomed by its members. It seemed therefore fitting that Karen Pinker should recently celebrate her 50th birthday party within the grounds of the school, with friends and family as well as those that she has formed close friendships with through her involvement in the school. Within the beautifully presented marquee, with its fine dining and singing waiters provided by Alastair Currie Event Solutions, it was a great tribute to both Karen’s birthday as well as the success of the school and to the memory of its founder.
