Overlooking St George’s Building, Norwich University of the Arts

I have been here for nearly eight years, having worked in all sorts art schools before but never one that was so in the city centre as this.

This was the very first view I had when I parked at the top of St Andrew’s car park and it is quite incredible – on a sunny day there is the beautiful red glow of the brickwork and you can see that the university is really in the heart of this historic and cultural centre. You get a wonderful panorama of the ornate top of the building where I work and the city behind.

Many artists have painted this area of the city and St George’s Building itself is quite famous. You can trace the history of Norwich University of the Arts 170 years, yet it is very progressive and modern today but also with a lot of the characteristics of being a former art school.
