The bidding was fast and furious as 80 guests raised more than 20,000 in a mystery art auction at the Caldecott Foundation in Smeeth

Not knowing whether the picture they were hoping to take home was painted by one of Britain's top artists or a talented painter from Caldecott's own children, auctioneer Clive Emson invited guests to bid on the works, all donated exclusively for the event. The money raised will go to specific projects to benefit some of the most vulnerable children in society, and help improve their life chances.Caldecott's chief fundraiser, Samantha Scott, said: "It was a brilliant night, and an unusual way to raise funds."
