The ceremony attended by medical professionals and those involved with the project including project managers GVA Grimley.. The new centre will go into use in December.

“Every aspect of the centre has been designed and built to provide the best possible facilities for the people who will be using it,” said Mr Rowe.

“We liaised closely with the medical teams to make sure every detail was exactly right.

“Kitto has established a first class reputation in the health sector, and it is especially rewarding for us to be involved in a project that is going to make such a difference to the local community.

“We are pleased and proud of the results. Despite work being delayed by snow earlier this year, the project has been completed within budget and two weeks ahead of schedule.”

The �3.5 million bespoke centre off Mantle Street, features superb new facilities for medical staff, patients and local people and will be shared by the Bevan and Rickard practices.

It includes spacious reception and waiting areas, including a children’s play area. There are 16 consulting room, and 7 treatment rooms, offices for health visitors, community nurses, stores and rest rooms.

On the first floor are meeting and training rooms, including an IT room, a library, medical records storage and team rooms for community health professionals.

A single-storey wing houses the pharmacy, a dentist’s suite and treatment and minor operation room.

There is also on site parking for 65 cars, new access, a special drop-off area for patients with disabilities or mobility problems and landscaped grounds.

Kitto has been involved from an early stage in gaining planning consent for a practical, energy efficient and cost-effective centre that fulfils all the client’s requirements.

All work is finished to the BREEAM Excellent standard. Bespoke joinery was made to order by the master joiners of Kitto’s associated joinery company.

The specialist primary health care team from GVA Grimley has been project managing the work on behalf of the GPs.
