Oscars night at the Taste of Kent Awards

The winners of Produced in Kent’s Taste of Kent Awards were celebrated at a ceremony at Leeds Castle to recognise the county’s most outstanding food and drink producers, retailers, restaurants, dining pubs and Farmers’ Markets in 2010.

East Kent clinched six category awards with some champions picking up an award for the second time, while other newcomers rose to win an accolade for the first time. The 2010 competition saw overall voting sustained at just over 10,000 votes for the second consecutive year, with 542 businesses and products nominated by the general public as being worthy of an award in one of the 12 ‘Oscars’ of Kent’s food and drink businesses.

The three finalists in each category voted for by the general public were then subject to an expert judging panel, mystery shoppers or mystery diners, who selected the final 12 winners.
