Cowdray Model Farm
Cowdray Model Farm opened to the public on Good Friday, 21 April 2011 in glorious sunshine and attracted more than 300 visitors over the course of the long weekend. Set in Cowdray Park, Midhurst, the farm stretches across 35 acres, running parallel to the A272. The farm has a mixture of animals and arable crops, as well as a pond and conservation area.The milking demonstration, piglets and lambs were the top attractions according to feedback from visitors, many of whom joined guided tours to learn more about organic and traditional farming methods. On Easter Sunday children were kept occupied for over an hour as they joined the Easter Egg hunt and were sent scurrying around the farm cracking clues.The new model farm will host school children for educational farm visits on week days and will open to the pubic at weekends between 11am and 3pm for a modest entry fee. Farm manager, David Hamilton-Fox, said: "Our ambition is that children can come here to learn more about how their food is produced and experience the sheer joy of being in the countryside."
