The second annual Polo for Heroes all-day event, which raises money for members of Britain’s Armed Forces wounded while serving their country, took place at St Albans Polo Club on July 23. Polo matches involved local and Forces teams, including one captained by ex-World Middleweight boxing champ Steve Collins, plus a day of great food and entertainment. The idea for Polo for Heroes was hatched in 2010 between rising culinary star and celebrated London restaurant Launceston Place head chef Tristan Welch, polo fanatic Clare Dingwall, and members of St Albans Polo Club when they all met at the highly successful Chefs for Heroes fundraising event.
