Ripples Brighton teamed up with Hurstpierpoint Colts football club to put on a five mile charity sponsored walk through the South Downs villages of Hassocks and Clayton on Sunday 23 October 2011. The walk was to raise money for Ripples’ nominated charity Wherever The Need, as well as Hurstpierpoint Colts football club.
The event was a great success, with over 40 people from Ripples Brighton and Hurstpierpoint Colts football club completing the five mile circular walk. It was a beautiful autumn afternoon for the fundraisers who raised a total of 1,069.00. All monies raised will be split between WTN and Hurstpierpoint Colts. Local supermarket Budgens kindly donated water, fruit and chocolate bars for everyone who took part.
Wherever The Need provide ecosan (composting) toilets that are clean and disease-free, as well as clean drinking water, to those less fortunate than us. They will also help raise urgent funds for the village of Arasur, Tamil Nadu, India: once complete, this project will be long-term and sustainable and make a positive and profound impact on the lives of a village community, especially women and children.
