THE Hertfordshire County Show is the highlight of the county’s outside event calendar, and 2010 will be no exception. Every year the show gets bigger and better, and with the superb balance of traditional displays and demonstrations, combined with spectacular Grand Ring attractions, it offers a fun-filled day out for all the family. This year’s popular Grand Ring attractions are Europe’s number one stunt and trick riding team the Devil’s Horsemen on Saturday, together with the spectacular Bolddog Lings freestyle motorcycle display team on Sunday. New attractions this year include the Hertfordshire Farmers ‘Flying Forktruck Musical Hoedown’, David Seamark Sheepdog demonstration, Venturer simulator rides, Winston the Singing Farmer, and the Hertfordshire Beekeepers. This year’s main show education event is the Hertfordshire Primary Schools competition to create an A4 montage showing a scene from the ‘Hertfordshire Countryside’ using recycled or recyclable materials. All finalists and the winning entries will be on display in the Hertfordshire County Council Marquee. As always, the Food Hall, Horticultural Marquee, Hertfordshire Food & Farming Marquee, Autorama sites, together with the Shopping and Craft Marquees will offer plenty of opportunities for window shoppers looking for some unusual items, and lots of top quality bargains.
Beat the credit crunch
To help combat the on-going gloom and doom surrounding the UK economy, the show is offering a significant 20% discount for advance tickets (no booking fee), and free parking. In addition, all children’s (and adults’) entertainment is FREE, which includes admission to the All Human Circus, Punch & Judy, Face Painting, Simulator rides, the hilarious Sheep Show, highly acclaimed Casablanca Steps 1930s musicians, and all Grand Ring attractions. Mike Harman, Show Secretary, said, ‘Although the Hertfordshire County Show is already widely acknowledged as the best value for money community event in the county, we are determined to extend our growing reputation in 2010. We strongly believe that the 2010 Family Advance ticket at 28.40, (for two adults, and two children), offers exceptional ‘Credit Crunch’ beating value.‘We warmly invite both first time visitors, and our regular show supporters, to join us to enjoy and celebrate the 124th Hertfordshire County Show on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th May at our Redbourn Showground.’
