What makes the south coast so idyllic for many is the classic feel to some of its places, none more so than the picturesque town of Eastbourne. The pier was heavily damaged in 2014 following a major fire, however the refurbishment that has been done since has brought it back to life. With traditional arcades, a fish and chip shop, tea rooms, a nightclub and beautiful views along the coast, Eastbourne Pier remains one of the major hubs on the south coast.

One of the quieter places on this list, Pevensey Bay Beach is an ideal spot for dog walkers, allowing for a calm and relaxing walk along the coastline. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants - in the bay and just up the road in Pevensey itself - to kick back and relax in after a day by the sea side.
