There are many ways to enjoy the beautiful Sussex coastline from popular pier visits to country parks. Here we round up some of the best
Eastbourne Pier
What makes the south coast so idyllic for many is the classic feel to some of its places, none more so than the picturesque town of Eastbourne. The pier was heavily damaged in 2014 following a major fire, however the refurbishment that has been done since has brought it back to life. With traditional arcades, a fish and chip shop, tea rooms, a nightclub and beautiful views along the coast, Eastbourne Pier remains one of the major hubs on the south coast.
i360
As one of the newest attractions on the south coast, the British Airways i360 is the world’s tallest moving observational tower provides a unique perspective of the surrounding areas. The pod holds 200 people and escalates to a height of 138 metres with views on a clear day stretching all across the city and Sussex coastline, proving some incredible photo opportunities.
Pevensey Bay
One of the quieter places on this list, Pevensey Bay Beach is an ideal spot for dog walkers, allowing for a calm and relaxing walk along the coastline. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants - in the bay and just up the road in Pevensey itself - to kick back and relax in after a day by the sea side.
Seven Sisters Country Park
From a pleasant walk along one of the many footpaths to canoeing down the River Cuckmere, Seven Sisters Country Park provides the perfect venue for an active day outdoors for the whole family. With great views of the white cliffs and Cuckmere Haven, it’s a great place to unwind and get closer to nature. There’s also campsite with 20 tents and a barn sleeping 35 available for pre-arranged educational groups and events.
Beachy Head
With beautiful views and great places to eat, Beachy Head shows what makes Sussex one of the most scenic places in the country. With winding roads through the countryside, visitors can experience the beauty of Sussex up close and personal. Beachy Head has also been recognised in popular culture having featured in a number of films and TV shows. For a refuel, try the Tiger Inn’s classic British dishes washed down with a real ale or two.
