The ‘Bid for Glory’ event, hosted by Lloyds Bank Wholesale Banking and Markets, raised over �25,000 for East Cheshire Hospice.
Gold medal cyclist Jon-Allan Butterworth and silver medal road race cyclist Lizzie Armitstead were among the famous faces. Former Manchester City players Stan Horne and Ron Cheetham were there too as well as Hospice supporter and Stoke City striker Peter Crouch with his wife, Abbey Clancy.
Business people from across Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire bid for prizes donated by famous figures including Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany and ManchesterUnited’s Ryan Giggs.
Dave Allanson, area director for Lloyds Bank Wholesale Banking and Markets in Manchester, East Cheshire and East Lancashire, said: ‘The event was an opportunity to reflect on a landmark year for British sport while helping to raise funds for one of the region’s mostimportant charities.’
Fiona Beasley, corporate relationship manager at East Cheshire Hospice, added: ‘We provide very special care for adults suffering from life-limiting illnesses for which there is no cure. We not only care for the patient but also for their families at what is such a difficult time. We’reincredibly grateful for the charitable support that Lloyds Bank have provided over the last couple of years.’
East Cheshire Hospice receives less than 25% of its funding from government and so has toraise �6,000 each day to provide the services free of charge.
