The hotly anticipated Suffragette movie, featuring A-list film stars Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep, visited the 18th century Painshill landscape garden in Cobham recently.
The tranquil setting by the lake provided the ideal location for the production company to film parkland scenes for the film which is due to be released in cinemas at the start of 2015.
“We were delighted to be chosen as one of the settings for the filming of the Suffragette movie,” says Mike Gove, chief executive office at Painshill.
“With 158 acres of diverse landscape garden, Painshill is a fantastic film location which can be used for both modern and period productions.”
Suffragette – which is written by Abi Morgan, screenwriter for Birdsong and Iron Lady – will track the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement.
Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep will play Suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst.
Painshill has previously hosted the filming of Dorian Gray and 101 Dalmatians, as well as a host of music videos by the likes of Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding and Jessie Ware.
