Hatley Farm in Frodsham hosted the traditional Cheshire Ploughing Match

The Cheshire Ploughing Match came to Hatley Farm in Frodsham this year, by kind permission of the Warburton family.

The event, attended by over 5,000 people, has been going for 92 years and is one of the largest ploughing matches in the UK. This year, more than 90 tractors competed in the ploughing section with a very high standard of work. The overall winner was Andrew Buckley of Whitchurch, and other local winners included Mathew Starkey of Northwich, who won the Reversible Ploughing Class, and Charlie Nicklin from Sandbach was the overall Cheshire winner.

Norman Lawson, the society’s secretary said: ‘On behalf of the society, I would like to thank all exhibitors and competitors for their continued support. It is because of them that the Cheshire Ploughing Match is such a success.’
