The Marina Dalglish Appeal held a fundraising day in support of their latest appeal, bringing together legends from the Liverpool and Everton football clubs to head up the teams.

A magnificent 40,000 was raised on the day at Formby Hall Golf Club and this will help fund the new 1.3m cancer treatment centre extension at Southport Hospital, improving treatment facilities in the area, and an intra-operative MRI scanner for the Walton Centre at University Hospital Aintree, near Liverpool.

Marina said: ‘I would like to thank all the golfers and celebrities for their continued support for the appeal, and also the wonderful generosity from all our fundraisers who have helped us to reach all our targets so far. We are looking forward to the Unit opening and making a difference to the lives of local people.’ The winning team was Pitch International, which included her husband, Kenny.
