A Civic Dinner and Ball was hosted by the Mayor of Derby, Cllr Sean Marshall, as he nears the end of his year in office. Almost 350 people attended the event, held at Derby Assembly Rooms and organised by events management company Silver Mango. Guests enjoyed a red carpet champagne reception, followed by a lavish six course meal and were entertained with live music, table magic, cupids on stilts, casino tables and even a surprise visit from Darth Vader and his army of Storm Troopers.

A nail-biting auction, conducted by Graham Penny, helped towards raising in excess of 15,000 in aid of Derbyshire Housing Aid’s Have a Heart Appeal for homeless people. The event was archived for the first time by Living Derby as part of a project to preserve some of our thoughts on the subject of ‘home’ for future generations.
