The sweeping drive leading up to Hoghton Tower is pretty impressive on a normal day. But transformed by a sea of flowers into the yellow brick road from children’s classic The Wizard of Oz, it really set the scene for one of the most prestigious events Lancashire has seen this year. It was the culmination of the North West Area of NAFAS’ 50th anniversary, a Magical Fairy Tale themed festival of flowers.

Around 68 senior and junior clubs, were invited to interpret the fairy tales theme and they didn’t disappoint, from Peter Pan to Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella displays adorned the rooms at Hoghton Tower. There were even some more modern interpretations including Harry Potter and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the 5,000 visitors to admire, some of the younger ones getting into the spirit of things by dressing up as fairies!
