Update your wardrobe for summer at Swishing evening

Lighter nights mean summer will soon be here – and if you’re wondering how to update your wardrobe for the new season on a limited budget, help is at hand from Cheltenham Connect. The community group is holding a Swishing (clothes swapping) evening on Wednesday, April 17 to enable women to ‘create a new look for less’.

The concept is simple: attendees bring at least three items of clothing or accessories and are given credits which they ‘spend’ on new items brought by other attendees, while their previously loved items go to a new owner.

There will also be a Trendwatch talk on ‘What’s hot for summer?’ from image consultant Nicki Price. A designated fitting area and mirrors will be available and alternations can be arranged if needed.

The Swishing event takes place on Wednesday, April 17 upstairs at the Tivoli from 6.45pm. Money raised will be split between Cheltenham Connect’s community initiatives and local charity Cotswold Care Hospice, who will also take any clothes left over at the end of the evening.

“All women have good quality items in our wardrobes that we no longer like or that don’t fit us any more,” says Karen Wilson of Colour Matters, the Cheltenham Connect member organising the event. “Swishing is a great way to try out a new look for very little cost. You can declutter your wardrobe, have a fun evening and raise money for Cotswold Care Hospice at the same time!”

Tickets cost £10 including a free drink. For more information please visit www.cheltenhamclothesswap.weebly.com or email Karen Wilson on karen@cheltenhamconnect.co.uk

This event is organised by Cheltenham Connect, a community initiative that aims to strengthen and empower the residential and trading areas of South Cheltenham. More information is available at www.cheltenhamconnect.co.uk
