Worthing charity Guild Care organised the town’s 1st ever Christmas Pudding Race in Worthing on Saturday to raise funds their new dementia wellbeing centre and care home in Durrington
A dozen teams in fancy dress competed in relays against one another over an inflatable assault course carrying Christmas puddings. The teams also had to complete a number of fun tasks on the way round - including putting baubles on a Christmas Tree and tossing presents in a sack.
Overall winners were Santa’s Little Helpers from local estate agents Jacobs Steel who completed the relay course in 2 minutes 30 seconds. Winners of the best dressed team were the Environmental Health Department of Adur & Worthing Councils (the Hot Mince Spies) who used their inspection suits as snowmen costumes; fastest individual time was Myles Gibson from Electronic Temperature Instrument’s (Therma Puddings) team who completed it in 21.21 seconds. Myles also won the two pudding challenge!
It was a brilliant, fun event which everyone enjoyed and vowed to return next year. Guild Care entered their own teams one of which one consisted of Trustees and guest, Worthing’s Mayor Bob Smytherman. Sponsors ETI entered two teams plus there were teams from Green Wright Chalton Annis, Advantage Business Consultants, Krew House Krusaders and American Express who all said how much fun it had been. The winning team Jacob Steel said ‘We will definitely be back next year to retain the title and will be up for anyone that wishes to take on the challenge. We have really enjoyed raising the money, it was great fun!’
