The glitz and glamour of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster Racecourse included the finals of Yorkshire’s Best Dressed Lady Racegoer. The winner this year was Liz Ackroyd from Hull. She beat stylish competition from eight other beautifully dressed finalists. The runner-up was Julie Moore with Victoria Slingsby in third place.
Throughout the summer the nine racecourses across Yorkshire held contests to find their own best dressed lady to represent them in the final. Liz, owner of the Passion Pour La Femme boutique in Hull, was Ripon’s representative after winning at their Ladies Day meeting in June.
The individual course winners were: Julie Moore, Wetherby; Liz Ackroyd, Ripon; Gayle Thighe (represented in the final by Debbie Grogan) Redcar; Karen Bromilow, Pontefract; Sharon Allenby, Beverley; Jayne Preston-Pollock, Catterick; Kelly Ewing, York; Sheila Garbutt, Thirsk; Victoria Slingsby, Doncaster.
