Cheshire and South Manchester remain the property hotspots of the North West.
House prices in Cheshire have remained largely flat from July 2016 to May 2017 according to figures released by the Land Registry.
As of May 2017, the average house price in Cheshire West is £188,705, while the figure for Cheshire East is £216,074, these are compared the average house price in the United Kingdom which is currently calculated as £220,713. Both parts of the county are well above the average house price in the North West of England which is stated as £153,297.
Further afield, the property market in the south of Manchester reflects the growing demand for homes close to the city centre. The average house price in Stockport surpassed the £200,000 mark for the first time ever, while the average house price in Trafford, which contains popular locations such as Altrincham and Hale, rose well above the quarter of a million pounds mark.
Compared to other counties in the north, Cheshire remains the most expensive area to buy property. According to May 2017 figures, both Cheshire districts combine to around the £200,000 for an average property, whereas Lancashire is £136,428, Cumbria is £150,074 and the Yorkshire and Humber region is £155,268.
