The opening of his new jewellery shop in the heart of Norwich is an exciting and proud time for James Hawkins of Juels’ Limited
WE ARE delighted to say that the refurbishment of our shop in the Royal Arcade, Norwich, is finally completed and open for business.
This delightful shopping destination is steeped in history and we are proud to be a part of it. The arcade itself was designed by the East Dereham-born architect George Skipper in 1899. His great ability in Victorian architecture can also be seen at many landmark destinations throughout the city, including Jarrold’s department store, the Commerical Chamber in Red Lion Street, the Norwich Union headquarters in Surrey Street and the Norfolk Daily Standard offices in St Giles.
The Royal Arcade spans an impressive 247ft of covered avenue. The decoration is in the Art Nouveau style (a modern concept for the late Victorian period) depicted in the tiles, in the royal colours of blue and red, lavish peacocks and floral scrolls. It stands as testimony to George Skipper that this architectural gem is still as wondrous and magnificent today as it was when first opened.
At Juels’ Limited we have sympathetically refurbished the shop in a traditional style but with a modern twist. We would like to mention the expertise of Heath and his team from Caplin’s for the refurbishment, Graham from The Glass Shop, Mark and Lee from Fatstickman for the signage and Joe from Waveney Security for the newly installed system. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the retailers in the arcade for being so patient with us during the refit and for all their help and assistance.
