Textile designer Adriana Gentile launches a cuddlesome addition to her accessories brand just in time for Mother’s Day.
Local colours, craftsmanship and creativity play a big part in the life of Adriana Gentile's range of homewares and accessories.
She designs and manufactures lovely cushions and throws for the home, made in a Yorkshire weaving mill. Her customers loved them so much they wanted to wear them - and the Howardian range of scarves and wraps was born.
Now, just in time for Mother's Day, a 'mini me' range has been born, the perfect gift for mum and child, made from the softest Bluefaced Leicester wool in a range of colours and designs.
Colours are those inspired by the Yorkshire countryside - from grass green to heather mauves and pinks, cowslip yellow and soft hay meadow hues.
Adriana, 28, who lives in Chapel Allerton in Leeds, comes up with her own suggestions for dyes to colour her wool, so all the shades are unique. She then has batches of woollen textiles woven and creates pieces to order.
The contemporary textiles have proved popular as a homeware brand inspired by Adriana's home county Yorkshire, love of colour, and eco friendly ethos.
Adriana developed her design skills at university in Birmingham.
After graduating she was supported by The Princes Trust, with a business loan to buy her first loom and set up her design studio to start her journey. Working closely with local manufacturers, Adriana focuses on creating quality fabrics and timeless designs that will last a lifetime. The are contemporary but with a twist that's timeless.
Adriana's passion for British manufacturing saw her business develop and she believes people are now really buying in to cratfsmanship when they look to buy for their home or wardrobe.
'I wanted to create a contemporary textile brand with an honest ethos, that uses beautifully coloured soft woollen yarns. But I kept finding that all the yarns on the market were itchy or dull coloured, so I decided to spin and dye to my own unique wool yarns,' she says.
'It's thanks to the brilliant British manufacturers that make it possible and help create my vision.' she adds.
Adriana works from a creative hub the historic A W Hainsworth Mill, near Pudsey in West Yorkshire, which has moe than 200 years of expertise in military textiles and still manufactures for the Queen's guards.
Her new range of 'Mummy and Me' mini scarves come in four different colourways and are exact replica of the adult scarves, to mix and match. The school run has never been so stylish.
