Alex Leigh Style Guide - Face Freshener

Cheshire's favourite top model reveals her tips for staying fresh and fabulous during the party season

It’s that time of year again: every night of the week is some kind of a festive bash and we always go with the same intention – I’ll just stay for one. Seven hours later you are standing on the table singing Slade’s ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ and the fact that you have to be at your desk in six hours’ time bright-eyed and bushy tailed, just hasn’t dawned on you.

Even though my number one beauty rule is sleep, sleep, sleep, I have been known to enjoy the occasional wild night out or two and I’ve picked up a few great tricks and cheats over the years.

You can plump up dehydrated skin with a moisturising face mask and, for tired eyes, try mixing your usual concealer with a little illuminator.

An easy fix for a dull, worn-out face is my simple do-it-yourself potion, which I’m giving you the recipe of on this page. You’ll get such a clean and smooth feeling afterwards, that you’’l feel as fresh as a daisy.

If you would rather have that extra five minutes in bed then try Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask.

A personal favourite of mine is Guerlain Issima Midnight Secret. It’s described as sleep in a bottle, the essential skin-saving step for short or disrupted nights. Whack it on before you fall into bed and you’ll wake up in the morning with all traces of your debauched festive carryings-on from the night before having been magically erased!

Cold weather and heating means your skin needs a little more TLC anyway so if it's pale and sun-starved, get a healthy summer glow with a good (odourless/streak-free) fake tan and that will hide a multitude of sins!

Finally, now you are looking human again, get your head feeling as alert as possible by drinking Berocca. Each tablet contains all the vitamins and minerals you will lose on a night of heavy drinking. With all these cheats, what excuse have you got to stay in?My DIY face freshenerIngredients:Two tsp aloe vera gelTwo drops of tea tree oilTwo drops of juniper berry oilOne drop of orange oilMethodMix all the ingredients to make a smooth paste and apply it over your face and neck using a circular motion.
