A successful Devon-based business with a national reputation is embarking on a new venture to serve customers in its own local community.

Golden Coast, which has been operating from its Barnstaple base since the late 1970s, has grown to become Britain’s largest independent supplier of products to the ‘wet leisure’ industry – dealing in spa, sauna and pool equipment. Now, for the first time, it will be opening a local showroom to sell spas and saunas directly to consumers in the region.

“There is a strong feeling that we are going back to our roots,” says Managing Director Jamie Adams. “Ours is a family-run company which has been here in Barnstaple since it was started by my father 35 years ago. In fact, Golden Coast installed the first-ever deck level pool in North Devon, which also included a spa and sauna. Even the name Golden Coast has an obvious connection with this part of the world. Along with my brothers, Shaun and Dominic, who are also Directors, I am delighted at the prospect of increasing the company’s activity within our home area.”

GC Spas & Sauna, which is easily accessible at Fishleigh Road in Roundswell Commercial Park West, will display and give advice on high-quality Sundance Spas and Tylo saunas. Its staff, who are all regular spa and sauna users, are keen to promote their health and ‘family bonding’ benefits, as Jamie Adams explains.

“Our business was born out of my father’s wish to provide his sons with healthy recreation and we have always been passionate about bringing health and togetherness into people’s lives. It is well documented that spa and sauna therapy helps relieve stress and its related illnesses, as well as physical ailments, and that enjoying quality time together in relaxing activities is good for family and partner relationships.”

Offering comfort where it is most needed, Golden Coast has been supplying hot tubs for children with life-limiting diseases since 2005, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and has recently provided Help for Heroes with a sauna and steam room for its main recovery centre. It hopes that GC Spas & Sauna will help to make the same sort of life-enhancing equipment accessible to as many people as possible in North Devon.

Serving a range of customers – individuals or couples, retired or working, who would like to treat themselves to a bit of luxury through hydrotherapy and intense relaxation – the new venture will also cater for people with children, who are seeking a focus for family fun and leisure.

Another key audience will be owners of holiday rental accommodation, who can enhance their visitors’ experience and add value by installing spa and sauna facilities.

“This is an exciting new development for Golden Coast and one which will benefit the local community,” says Jamie Adams. “Customers in the region can come to us with total confidence, knowing that this is a company whose reputation for expertise and reliable support has stood the test of time. What’s more, ours is a company with strong family values which are reflected in our friendly, approachable attitude and in the way we treat our customers.”

Open Day

On Saturday 31st May 2014, GC Spas & Sauna will celebrate the opening of its new Barnstaple showroom with a free day-long event that is open to the public.

“Come and have a relaxed chat with us and see what today’s spa and sauna technology has to offer. We’re sure you will be impressed.”
