6 of Surrey’s most sensational spas

Surrey has been named one of the best destinations for health and wellbeing in the UK so it’s no surprise that the county has some top notch spas. Here are some of our favourites.
The Coach House Health Club & Spa, Beaverbrook, Leatherhead
This luxurious country house hotel near Leatherhead opened its spa only just over a year ago but is already being hailed as one of the best spas in the country, not just for the high quality of its health and wellbeing offering but also the beautiful stained glasswork by Brian Clarke. The exclusive spa draws inspiration from nature and the healing power of medicinal plants, flowers and fruits found in the 400-plus acres of grounds.
Pamper pick: Biodynamic Bodywork - this 60 or 90-minute treatment embraces a range of therapeutic methods, such as pulsatory touch, energy distribution, deep-draining and work on the bio-field of the body to treat and relieve physical, neural and psychological conditions. Price from £160.
BSpa, Brooklands Hotel, Weybridge
There aren’t many spas where you can sit in an outdoor hot tub with views over a race track (unless perhaps you’re in Monaco). The main attraction at BSpa at Brooklands Hotel is the state of the art 12-seater tub which sits on a balcony overlooking the skid sensational spas track at Mercedes Benz World. Last year the spa also introduced a Light Therapy Room, giving all the benefits of sitting in 30 degree sun but with none of the damage.
Pamper pick: Wine Makers Body Massage - a 50-minute sculpting massage treatment that recreates the ritualistic steps of the wine-making process on the body. Price from: £80

The Spa at Pennyhill Park, Bagshot
The England rugby team will surely be making good use of The Spa at Pennyhill Park before heading out for the rest of this year’s Six Nations tournament later in the year (their training camp is based within the hotel’s grounds). And if that’s not a reason to go there then try eight indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs (complete with poolside bar service) and an abundance of herbal steam rooms, laconiums and an ice cave, as well as an extensive range of luxury facials and massages.
Pampering pick: The Natura Bissé oxygen bubble treatments, which involve having your treatment in a large inflatable ball where the air you breathe will be 99.995 per cent pure. Prices from £125.
The Runnymede Hotel, Egham
Here’s another quirky hot tub location to tick off the list. The Whirlpool by the Weir is situated on a private jetty right on the banks of the River Thames and is exclusive to guests of the Runnymede on Thames Hotel. As well as both an indoor and outdoor pool, there’s also an infrared cabin, which uses infared lamps to heat the air in the cabin, in turn heating the body to detox, boost metabolism, repair muscles and clear your skin. It’s a bit like a sauna but because it’s operated at a lower
temperature, is the perfect alternative for those who may find the heat of a traditional sauna uncomfortable.
Pamper pick: The Mindful Massage - this 75-minute treatment begins with a foot zone massage to rebalance and ground, before a soothing massage is continued up through the body, finishing with a re-energising scalp massage using warm rose quartz crystals. Price £95.
Foxhills Country Club & Resort, Ottershaw
As part of an ongoing £25 million refurbishment project at Foxhills, the health spa has benefitted from huge investment over the past few years. As well as its large indoor pool, the spa garden features one of England’s first natural
swimming pools with chemicalfree water purified by plants and minerals. There’s also an outdoor hot tub, two Finnish saunas, a hydropool with massage jets, a state-of-the-art gym and secret yoga cabin in the woods, which hosts an extensive programme of classes run by a team of 60 expert instructors. That’s on top of wide range of spa treatments and of course the golf course if you fancy a round or two.
Grayshott Health Spa, Hindhead
For over 50 years Grayshott Health Spa has provided a retreat for those looking to address health issues and improve their wellbeing. Set in 47 acres of gardens and grounds, adjoining 700 acres of stunning countryside on the Surrey/
Hampshire border, Grayshott’s crowning glory is its awardwinning Seven-day Health Regime, an intensive programme of digestive cleansing and weight loss. However, the spa, which has 59 bedrooms and 36 treatment rooms, has also designed four Day Retreats for those guests who wish to have a taster of Grayshott Spa and the health benefits on offer.
Pamper Pick: Float without getting wet and experience the weightless sensation and sense of tranquillity that only water can provide with a 25 or 40-minute Dry Flotation treatment. Price from £50
