Charlie, owner of Sloanes Boutique in Petworth, scooped first prize in the Glorious Goodwood competition, sponsored by L’Ormarins.

Women were challenged to dress in the brand’s colours: blue and and white. Judges included Justine Picardie, editor of Harper’s Bazaar.

Charlie, who won a holiday for two in South Africa, wore a lace dress from Alice by Temperley, Christian Louboutin shoes and a hat by Midhurst-based Layla Leigh Millinery (designer Leigh Johnson featured in our August issue).

Both women are seasoned race-goers, with Charlie saying: “This week has been simply magical, seeing so many Layla Leigh hats and Sloanes Boutique outfits on the fashionable ladies of West Sussex, goodness knows how we’ll top it next year!”
