Cathedral couture

St Albans Fashion Week has further sealed this stylish city’s status with the help of the breathtakingly beautiful Cathedral of St Alban. Each year the nave is transformed into the UK’s longest indoor catwalk where more than 800 guests each night are treated to a stunning show of collections from independents, high street brands, exciting new designers and talented local students. Angela Buttolph, editor-at-large at Grazia magazine, who was in the coveted front row last year said, ‘St Albans Fashion Week is fast becoming a can’t-miss-date for the calendar. This year’s show was spectacular, from the glamorous setting in St Albans Abbey to the fabulous mix of designer, vintage and high street brands. St Albans Fashion Week could teach the world’s fashion capitals a thing or two about diversity – it was great to see models of all sizes and ages on the catwalk. A seriously fun night out.’

To accommodate demand, SAFW 2016 will include two cathedral catwalk shows, each featuring a variety of retailers, both independent and high street favourites, upcoming designers, collections by students from Hertford Regional College, a glamorous wedding sequence and a new trend section in which retailers will showcase their take on this autumn/winter’s biggest looks.

We’re so excited to be back for our fourth year. Each year the demand gets greater, so we want to try and give as many people a chance to take part. This year we have more than 100 local businesses participating. We still can’t believe the attention SAFW receives or how many people want to take part in all the festivities. We even made it on to BBC’s Songs of Praise last year, with presenter Diane-Louise Jordan practising her walk down our catwalk. The whole journey’s been a dream and we’re thrilled so many people love taking part and attending. It’s been a real pleasure and we’re continually overwhelmed by people’s continued support and enthusiasm for SAFW, in particular our supportive sponsors. Sponsoring SAFW 2016 are The Skin to Love Clinic, legal firm Debenhams Ottaway, Poggenpohl Kitchens, Hertford Regional College, Total Care Fitness, exclusive beauty sponsors and providers Bare Minerals, The Alternative Barbering Co and Steve Lupton Hairdressing.
