We talk to Doctor Awad of Pour Moi Cosmetic Clinic in Canford Cliffs about cosmetic procedures that can turn back the hands of time for your face and body

What is the purpose of a face peel, how does it work and who is it best for?

Facial peels come in different grades according to skin conditions and patient requirements. Glycolic Acid Peel - is a mild peel and is mainly for acne and minor skin conditions. It is safe to use on young skins. Nature Peel is a microdermabrasion using salt as a gentle natural abrasive to remove the top layer of dead skin cells to accelerate the renewal cycle of skin leaving it fresh, clear and glowing. The LA Peel and Blue Peel Radiance are medium peels to refresh, refine and tighten the skin, with a recovery time of three days. Blue Peel is a TCA peel, it addresses deep scarring, acne scarring with a recovery time of two weeks.

What is the best treatment for thread veins on your face?

Facial thread veins are mainly hereditary, but there are other factors that can exacerbate them, such as: weathering, excessive alcohol and spicy food. For small areas we can quarterise them with shortwave diathermy current - which might require 2-3 treatments, at 3 week intervals. For a larger area we use Intense Pulse Light which is 2-4 treatments, a month apart. Both treatments require the ongoing use of sunblock which also helps prevent recurrence.

What treatment can improve crepe skin on backs of hands and décolletage?

This can be treated with a course of Restylane Vital which is injected into the area, it boosts the skin hydration system and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin fibres, leaving the skin looking plump and hydrated. If you don’t like injections then opt for the Elastiderm Decolletage System - an Obagi product, which tightens and tones this exposed and delicate area.

Eyebrows often get thinner as you get older how can I make them look thicker?

Having semi-permanent make up will add fullness and definition to eyebrows. It might only be necessary to fill in gaps or else one could opt for total brow recreation so you don’t ever need to use eyebrow pencils again.

What would you recommend to reduce the ‘orange peel’ effect on thighs?

This dimpling effect is mainly caused by lack of lymph drainage, the treatment to address cellulite is Endermologie. It is non invasive and helps increase blood and lymph circulation thus promoting the elimination of metabolic waste. The result is a slimmer, more contoured body and smoother, firmer skin.

Can you explain how skin fillers work?

We only use Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which is naturally present in our skin. HA gives skin a smooth and fresh appearance by preserving elasticity, firmness and hydration. As we age HA in our skin gradually becomes less efficient and leads to loss of volume, it is at this point we need to inject and replace it in the skin to restore volume and fill age induced lines. Fillers have an instant result and continue to improve over the following weeks. A step up from fillers in the last few years has been Thermage - a non invasive mini lift, giving 60% of a surgical facelift with no downtime

What is your most popular treatment?

Freezing frown lines and forehead lines by beauty toxin is still the most popular treatment among men and women.
