A busy time ahead...

How many of us actually go anywhere at Easter? If you're anything like me, the long weekend is normally spent catching up on the endless list of jobs around the house. Or more to the point, trying to finish all the things I've started, interrupted only by trips to the local DIY store to stock up on materials. But no, this year will be different. Armed with a fantastic list of 50 ways to spend a spring weekend there is no excuse but to get out and explore the county. There's everything from beautiful sunrise walks on West Wittering beach and boat tours from Newhaven harbour to delving into the past at Battle Abbey and Arundel Castle or taking a trip on the Bluebell Railway - I hear it's the perfect time of year. And once all that exploring is done there's nothing left to do but relax with a pint and some great food in the local. Matthew Williams has assembled a mouth watering list of great pubs in the villages around Horsham - all with great local recipes. It was a tough assignment but Matt put aside any fears for his own wellbeing and diligently researched the subject. I hope you agree with his choices but do let us know if you don't. It would also be great to hear of any other traditional Sussex pubs that you think deserve praise in these tough times. So I hope you enjoy this issue of Sussex Life and use it to make the most of a fantastic Easter weekend, April and beyond - there really is no excuse. And I look forward to hearing about those pubs.

Until next time, Jonathan KeebleEditor
