Bridgwater College will be hosting two floristry demonstrations on Saturday 23 March in the Conference Hall at the Cannington Centre, at 10am and 1pm.
The demonstrations will be by Katherine Kear, a national demonstrator, speaker and teacher for the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies (NAFAS). The class will be based on contemporary designs from both the UK and Europe and focus on the use of structural materials in making arrangements.
Katherine said, “My inspiration comes from culture, botany and emotion – all these are present wherever you look and the underpinning inspirations for floral designers. My designs often come to me on the day, depending on my surroundings and how I’m feeling. William Morris once said ‘the heart of man needs to belong to nature’, and maybe that is what is at the back of my mind as I work.”
For more details see the Floristry Demonstration event page on the website, www.bridgwater.ac.uk. Tickets are £7 per person which includes a demonstration, tour of the Walled Gardens, hot drink and a slice of cake. Tickets are available from the College’s Online Store.
