We understand that no two children are the same. Therefore, our approach is to teach each and every child in the most effective way for them; we call this individualised learning. At the heart of this approach is our ability to understand precisely where each student is on their learning journey. Through regular assessment we gain an understanding of their abilities in each subject and use this to develop individual learning plans that set the right amount of academic challenge, targeting areas of the curriculum which need more focus and differentiating in areas where your child excels. It is this tailored approach which allows the majority of our students to achieve results above and beyond their predicted grades for both GCSE and A Levels.

In 2013, 70% of Biology, 56% of Physics, 48% of Chemistry and 40% of Maths pupils achieved either A* or A. Subjects in which a full 100% of pupils gained A* - C grade were Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Literature, Spanish, Art, Resistant Materials Technology, Food Technology and Religious Studies.

Our newly established A-Level curriculum is designed to focus mainly, but not exclusively, on academic courses. In addition to the 17 A-Level subjects offered, the school also provides the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), a project that gains extra UCAS points giving pupils an added edge when applying to a university. We have a new Sixth Form Centre including a fully equipped Common Room and dedicated classrooms.

Both day pupils and boarders benefit from excellent tuition in a range of activities such as archery, athletics, cricket, football, hockey, horse riding, netball, rounders, and rugby.

Visit our website and our lively and fun Facebook pages, but, the best way to really get a feel for the school is to come and see it in person. Please feel free to arrange an appointment or attend one of our Open Day events. We would look forward to welcoming you.
