Year 9 St Nicholas’ School pupils Bethia Jones, Lucy Tomblin and Laura Wills recently took part in the ‘Young Chef of the Year’ competition organised by the Fleet Rotary Club. The event was held at Calthorpe Park School and the judges included Executive chef Cyrille Pannier from the Four Seasons Hotel in Dogmersfield and Sarah Garwood from Newlands Cookery School in North Warnborough. First place was awarded to the Church Crookham School’s Lucy Tomblin and second place to Bethia Jones. The pupils had 30 minutes to prepare and 90 minutes to cook a healthy two-course meal for two. Points were awarded for originality, presentation and the quality of the meal. Lucy’s healthy meal consisted of turkey and mixed bean chilli served with a brown rice and quinoa tower and garnished with green salad. Dessert was a fruit tart with strawberry creme fraiche.
