Dumpton is a co-educational day school for boys and girls aged 2½ to 13. Just one mile from Wimborne, the 26 acre campus is centred on a 19th century farmhouse and stable block, while extensive playing fields and woodland walks complement the modern sports facilities and classroom areas. In the dedicated Nursery and Pre-Prep department children can progress at their own pace in a stimulating and creative environment; explore the woods in Forest School, swim, dance or play in the adventure playground. The adjacent Prep School houses Years 3 to 8 where pupils enjoy excellent teaching by subject specialists and form tutors oversee the academic, social and pastoral wellbeing of the pupils in their care.

Despite record numbers in the school, class sizes are small and the pupils enjoy incomparable opportunities for Music, Art, Drama and Sport in which the school excels. Dumpton is renowned for its caring approach in which every child is encouraged to identify and develop their abilities and personal qualities as fully as possible. It is a very happy and successful school and pupils regularly win scholarships to senior and grammar schools: over 100 have been awarded to Dumpton pupils in the last five years, to schools such as Bryanston, Canford, Clayesmore, Millfield, Talbot Heath and Sherborne.

The rolling schedule of refurbishments and investments during each holiday ensures all areas of the school are at their best. The comprehensive outdoor facilities equal the academic ones: an outdoor classroom, climbing wall and environmental area, complete with ponds, pontoons, beehives and pupil allotments. Sustainability is also a big focus, and with Eco School’s Green Flag status, recycling, composting and alternative energy streams are all high profile around the school.

We aim to educate pupils in a safe, supportive and caring environment, within a framework of family and Christian values that stress the importance of teamwork and mutual respect at all times. The school motto ‘You can because you think you can’ lies at the cornerstone of teaching at Dumpton and pupils are encouraged to fulfil their potential and become confident communicators, appreciating good manners and tolerance.

Everyday is open day at Dumpton – come and see for yourself!
