Homefield is a leading and flourishing school in Surrey for 400 boys aged between three and thirteen.
It is housed in extensive buildings on its own two-acre playing fields and prepares its boys for a very wide range of 43 senior schools in London and the South East, including King’s Wimbledon, Dulwich, Epsom, Hampton, Kingston, St Paul’s, St John’s, Westminster and Eton.
Founded in 1870, reconstituted as an educational trust and moved to its present site, in Western Road, Sutton, in 1968, Homefield has its roots in the 19th century and its branches in the twenty-first, growing from its original complement of just forty boys.
Since 2003 the school has invested over 3.8m in new buildings, adding new classrooms, a specialist Early Years’ Unit, dedicated Science laboratories, an Art, Design and Technology Suite, a Music Centre and a new Learning Resources Centre to its purpose-built facilities.
Throughout its development Homefield has been very careful to preserve its original family ethos and intimacy, together with its reputation for academic excellence, breadth of extra-curricular sporting, musical and artistic provision and the first class provision of pastoral care.

At Homefield we aim to provide:
The highest standards of learning for all The highest standards of teaching for all The fulfilment of each individual’s potential A caring atmosphere within a Christian ethos The best preparation for each boy’s next school A secure foundation for each boy’s future life
Above all, we try to achieve them in a climate of expectation but not pressure!
The ISI inspection of the school in March 2010 highly endorsed these aims adjudging Homefield:
“… A vigorous and friendly community whose welcoming atmosphere ensures that all are welcomed and valued. The pupils develop into highly-educated and informed young students, thoroughly prepared for the next stages of their lives. Pupils’ social and personal development is outstanding. Throughout the school pupils show outstanding maturity in their attitudes and are often prodigiously well-informed.”
Homefield’s outstanding pastoral care is delivered by form teachers in the Early Years’ Unit and Junior Departments, and by House tutors in the Senior Department, where innovative vertical grouping was very successfully introduced three years ago.
Last year the 34 boys in the Upper 6th form safely qualified via Common Entrance and Scholarship for 19 different senior schools, successfully maintaining Homefield’s 100% pass rate at Common Entrance over the last ten years. 85 scholarships have been won to senior independent schools for academic, musical, sporting, artistic and all round accomplishment in the last three years.
The formal curriculum is complemented by a very rich variety of lunch-time and after-school clubs including numerous academic, sporting, artistic and musical groups and orchestras. The boys’ learning is also complemented by the enrichment and benefit of frequent regional, national and overseas visits and trips.
Homefield is also rightly proud of its many county and national representatives in soccer, rugby, cricket, hockey, athletics, squash, table tennis, swimming, judo, karate and chess.
In 2011 the 1st XV rugby side won the National Preparatory Schools’ Rugby Championship at Epsom College, whilst the 1st XI soccer side reached the final of the Surrey Preparatory Schools’ Soccer Championship, losing to familiar rivals only after a penalty shoot-out in extra time. This year the under-9 also qualified for the finals.
Homefield Boys have also performed in the last three yeasr in the National Finals of the prestigious Music for Youth Competition and Homefield was placed first, with Wellington College, in the British Land UK Chess Challenge.
More recently, five Homefield boys won podium places in the Karate World Championships in Cardiff, whilst in June Homefield boys will stage the defence of their U9 and U11 English Primary Schools’ Chess Association titles.
Homefield boys and staff are also very involved in the world beyond Homefield. They support a large number of charities both at home and abroad and sponsor schools in Angola and Sri Lanka, raising on average 8,000 a year. The Music and Drama Departments also regularly perform in the local community and invite local schools and neighbours to their events.
Parent links are also very important at Homefield. The Homefield Association is very active and organizes many charitable functions throughout the year, additionally raising funds for the school.
A minibus service to and from school is available from the Wimbledon area and a breakfast/after school care club is available from Reception.
Homefield School offers academic, art, music and sports scholarships.
