Kingsmead School's approach to enhanced learning has produced an exceptional academic record, with GCSE and 11+ pass rates of over 80%. Sixth Form provides 1:1 tuition at A Level and BTEC, a level of individual support rarely seen elsewhere.

Kingsmead is set within idyllic playing fields just a few minutes walk from Hoylake's tranquil beach front and has a superb indoor heated swimming pool along with excellent state of the art facilities for food and nutrition, drama and music, science and ICT; along with peaceful study areas for pupils seeking quiet space to prepare for critical academic stages. The school's extended day is punctuated with long morning and lunchtime breaks, filled with a wealth of sports and clubs, ensuring a healthy balance to every day.

Founded back in 1904 as a preparatory school, from the very start Kingsmead was marked out for its remarkably caring, family ethos and personalised approach to learning. When the school expanded to educate children to 16 it rapidly became the highest achieving all-ability school in Wirral at GCSE level, largely thanks to the school's unique style of education and caring atmosphere.

This remarkable school now has a newly-opened Sixth Form and also offers boarding facilities. Both developments open up a welcome new option for Cheshire families looking for the best education for their children. The school offers full-boarding, weekly boarding and flexi-boarding for pupils from the age of nine (day pupils can start in Nursery) within a comfortable 'home from home' environment that reflects the nurturing and personalised approach to care. Wrap-around care, for day pupils living at a distance, is also available at Holiday Club and after-school club for all ages, 49 weeks a year.

Supporting the academic input is an enormous range of co-curricular opportunities, which further expand horizons, build confidence and develop independence and leadership. The school holds regular whole-school assemblies and concerts, bringing the entire community together and building strong and supportive relationships between pupils of all ages.

Headmaster of Kingsmead School, Mark Gibbons, said:

"Kingsmead School was founded all those years ago with its purpose to provide an environment "ideal for learning well" and this aspect of the school remains unchanged. We provide a holistic and wholly pupil-centred education with small, nurturing classes where the children are known and taught as individuals. Here support, respect and affection are part of everyday life and our strong school community, both past and present, feels like an extended family. Our results speak for themselves with the best GCSE results in Wirral for all-ability schools, and 11+ pass rates of over 80% we are one of Merseyside's leading independent schools. We combine high expectations of conduct with ready praise for effort, making a Kingsmead education an exceptional start in life for children."
