A unique event for senior business leaders and business owners on creating the right mindset to survive the current economic and business challenges. The workshop will be facilitated by John Potter, visiting Professor at the Plymouth Business School, University of Plymouth and will bring together the psychological aspects of leadership in difficult situations with the experiences of world class yachtsman Pete Goss MBE, an internationally renowned sailor and entrepreneur.

The aim of the session

To provide participants with a highly effective mental toolkit to enable them to manage and lead their business through the current economic challenges.

The presenters

Pete Goss MBE

With a wide variety of adventures under his belt, Pete Goss talks positively and with passion about leading teams through exciting, but often complex, difficult and dangerous situations. A natural communicator with a dynamic but informal style, Pete never ceases to amuse, entertain and inform with his presentations.

Professor John Potter

John Potter is a business psychologist and author on leadership in a wide range of situations. His work has ranged from operational involvement in hostage, hijack, siege and kidnap situations to corporate consulting in public, private and third sector organisations. His passion is in developing leadership ability at all levels in organisations of all sizes in order to develop the capability of the organisation to handle the challenges of the future.

Delivered by the University of Plymouth as a member of Combined Universities in Cornwall and as part of the launch of the Cornwall Enterprise Institute.

The Cornwall Enterprise Institute is a joint venture between the University of Plymouth and Cornwall College which will drive a "new economic dynamism" through harnessing the enterprise and entrepreneurship talent in the county. It will provide higher level leadership, management and enterprise skills and knowledge to underpin the economic and social transformation of Cornwall, equipping business and individuals with the skills to compete effectively in today’s global economy, creating a unique network accelerating business growth and innovation in the region.
