Set in twelve acres of beautiful grounds overlooking the city of Oxford, Rye St Antony offers a school experience of exceptional quality and value. ISI and Ofsted recognise it as ‘excellent’ and ‘outstanding’ – from its quality of teaching and learning to its breadth of opportunity to its community life and relationships to its governance and leadership – and its success is warmly appreciated by pupils for whom it is ‘the best’ and parents who say ‘we could not have given our daughter a better start in life’.

Rye St Antony making a difference

Head teacher Alison Jones studied English at the University of York and took her postgraduate certificate of education at the University of Oxford. She began her teaching career at St Mary’s School Cambridge where she became Head of English and Head of Sixth Form. She then returned to Oxford in 1990 as Head of Rye St Antony, a post in which she has served for the past 21 years.

My hope for each girl who comes to Rye is that her school years will provide the opportunity for her to discover who she is and what she has it in her to become. We have a school song which sets to music some words by Robert Bridges: ‘I too will something make and joy in the making’. I hope that Rye’s happy, creative and purposeful atmosphere will be something which each girls first absorbs and then reflects, so that she is able to complete her school years happy, resilient, wise, keen to embark on the future and keen to make her contribution to the world.

Former pupils are good at keeping at touch, and I love learning of their achievements at university and beyond. School achievements are important, of course, but the real measure of success is all that follows. An education of value is one which helps the pupils of today become the leaders of the future, the people who will make a positive difference to the world.
