On Wednesday 11 and Tuesday 17 March, Greenacre School for Girls in Banstead, opened its doors to budding Scientists from other local schools in the area.

Local state and independent schools were sent letters and posters advertising this free ‘Evening of Science’ and students were encouraged to sign up. Due to high demand, the event was held over two evenings in March which allowed 100 students and their parents to enjoy learning about the wonderful world of science.

Mini explosions, experiments and demonstrations filled the action packed evening, with each student having a booklet so that they could record the results from their tasks in Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Mrs Mary-Jane Jeanes, Head of Science says: “It is important to encourage an appreciation of science. Students who discover a love for the subject can go on to work in the fields of medicine, research and engineering.”
