On Wednesday 9 September the Queen overtook the record set by her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria to become the longest reigning monarch in British history, having been on the throne for 63 years, seven months and two days.

To mark the very special occasion, churches around the country rung their bells at 11am. Year 6 pupil, Ethan Barter, helped to ring the bells at St Giles Graffham.

The youngest bell ringer in Sussex, 10 year-old Ethan was very excited to be part of the celebrations: “It is a very historical event and it feels good to play a small part in history. I am happy that when people hear the bells and their wonderful sound they will think about the Queen and all she has done for our country.”
