In the present economic climate, it’s fairly rare to find the words ‘independent education’ and ‘affordable’ in the same sentence. Recent university destinations for RHS girls range from Mathematics at Oxford and Architecture at Cambridge to Genetics at Aberystwyth, Film and Theatre at Reading and Engineering at Manchester.
“This belief is also rooted in the levels of courtesy, collegiality and an unselfconscious mantra of ‘getting stuck in’ that RHS girls manifest on an hourly basis. Rebecca Dougall continues, “It’s about knowing what girls need to become the best version of themselves that they can possibly be and promoting that in a totally focused way.
We allow girls to look at the curriculum, university courses and careers in a completely open-minded way. School spaces are designed with girls in mind; every curriculum and co-curriculum opportunity is available to girls as a matter of course.
No one in a girls’ school gets told that physics or engineering are ‘a-typical’. Former students and staff model what success can look like across a range of fields and that’s incredibly exciting.
Our academic results are outstanding but we also look beyond that to individual talents, which I believe is why our school corridors buzz with confident, gregarious girls who are free to be themselves.”
