Westholme's Senior Boys' School opens to prospective Year 7 pupils in September and is a fantastic opportunity for boys to experience the quality education and facilities the girls have long enjoyed.
Westholme School provides an all-round, single-sex (from aged 7) education to boys and girls across Lancashire. Operating across a wide catchment area, serviced by a fleet of coaches, we bring in pupils who are characterised by their polite, friendly and confident ways; happy pupils who want to learn and progress.Our examination results and University entrance statistics are naturally impressive. That is a given. But we offer so much more than that.
Not all learning happens in the classroom. At Westholme we are really dedicated to bringing out the best in every individual and you may find your strengths are in something you have not even tried yet! The facilities certainly help to encourage you; our professional theatre is a big attraction for students with a love of the performing arts, and our newly extended Music Centre complements this side of our offer perfectly. In addition we have a suite of state of the art laboratories, and many pupils have gone into highly successful science related careers, inspired by their experiences here. Sport is well catered for with our Astro-turf pitches for all weathers, and each year we have a significant range of high achieving sports people in many disciplines, from golf to shooting and fell running! Participation and competition have equal importance at Westholme and all the pupils find something to enjoy. In the hours when you are not in lessons, you will doubtless be extremely busy joining in with all our numerous clubs and societies. There are too many to list, but include Debating, Engineering, Chess, Fencing, Dance, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Choir, Orchestra and several Bands. In our last Inspection, the report made specific mention that our range of extra-curricular activities was outstanding and we can only agree. In addition, you will also be given the opportunity to go on various trips and expeditions, both comfortingly close (Chester Zoo perhaps) and exotically far (the jungles of Borneo).The children here are exceptionally well cared for. We care about the children, knowing that when they are content, they will learn. A warm approach and a listening ear are offered at all levels, right from the Infant level to Sixth Form. It really is a special place, a warm community. Our latest initiative to open up a Senior Boys School is really exciting as we can now provide the Westholme experience all the way through to 18 for children of both genders.
