The organisers of the Last Choir Singing Choir Competition are looking for a song to be performed by the choirs in the Last Choir Singing County Final, at King George’s Hall in Blackburn, in June.

Could you write a song for a children’s choir? Perhaps you are already a songwriter, or have always had a song in your head just waiting for you to write it. Perhaps you just fancy having a go. If so, the Last Choir Singing Song Writing Contest is for you!

Entry is FREE and is open to both adults and children.

There is a cash prize of £400 and the opportunity to have an acoustic version of your song performed and recorded by Duncan Heather and Drew Palmer and put on iTunes, with all proceeds going to the songwriter.

All entries must be recorded and submitted in MP3 or MP4 format and must not have already been published. The songs will be judged on composition and suitability for children’s choirs, not on vocal performance or song production.

Deadline for song entry is 21st October 2016.

Organisers of the Last Choir Singing Choir Competition are looking for a song to be performed by the choirs in the Last Choir Singing County Final, at King George’s Hall in Blackburn, in June 2017.

The Last Choir Singing Choir Competition, was launched by True Bearing Chartered Financial Planners in 2014 and became a huge success in its first year. Nearly 3000 children have taken part so far, proving that music education is thriving in the North West. There are regional Heats, culminating in a sell-out Final at the beautiful King George’s Hall in Blackburn. Approximately 10 schools make it through to the Final, in which they have to sing a set song and a song of their own choice.

Last year, we introduced a song writing contest, won by singer/songwriter, Ike Rann and his uplifting song ‘Genius’. We have launched it earlier this year and Entry to the 2016/2017 song writing contest is open now!

The song that wins the song writing contest will become the set song that is performed by all the choirs at the Final on Friday 16th June 2017.

There will be maximum publicity. Shortlisted applicants will have an acoustic version of their song performed live on Radio Lancashire by the celebrated singer, Duncan Heather, and will have the chance to be interviewed on the radio.

The songs will be judged by a panel of experts: Steve Balsamo, prolific singer/songwriter, who shot to instant fame in the late 1990s for his portrayal of Jesus in the West End revival of Jesus Christ Superstar; Chris Eaton, writer of many recognisable songs, including Cliff Richard’s ‘Saviour’s Day’; and Ben Rapp, Regional Manager for Lancashire Music Service, who has a wealth of experience in music education and adjudication of song compositions.

If you wish to enter a song into the song writing contest, go to www.lastchoirsinging.co.uk/song-contest and follow the online application process. There you will find the Rules and Regulations, along with song writing guidelines.
