Princesshay, Exeter’s stylish shopping centre of choice staged two days of free stylish spring into summer fashion shows on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May. Shoppers were introduced to the seasons key looks and trends showcased in a series of free high-energy fashion shows over the two days.

The Princesshay Fashion Weekend took place on a 20 metre catwalk in the main thoroughfare leading down to Princesshay Square. Five free fashion shows took place on Friday and six on Saturday giving shoppers inspiration for a new wardrobe with all the centre’s top brand names involved. The shows featured 6 female models, 2 male models and two child models with a special appearance from the male Face of Exeter’s Princesshay winner Perry Meadowcroft.

Nineteen year old Performing Arts student Perry Meadowcroft from Exmouth was named the male Face of Exeter’s Princesshay last November and part of his prize featured in his first professional catwalk show on Saturday 14th May.

Perry Meadowcroft, the Face of Exeter’s Princesshay Male Winner said, “I really loved appearing in the shows. It was nerve racking at first but the other models and people watching were really supportive and my whole family were also there on the day cheering me on. I featured in 4 different scenes wearing suits from Moss and other outfits from Quiksilver, Musto and Zara. Since winning the competition last year I’ve been in a professional photo shoot and now my first catwalk show, the whole experience has been great.”

Wayne Pearce, Princesshay Centre Director said, “Our shows last September were a real success and we brought back the same 20 metre catwalk to showcase the latest trends for the summer. The shows created an exciting atmosphere in Princesshay over the weekend and large numbers of shoppers stopped to watch the models and get inspiration for their summer or holiday wardrobes.”

Princesshay Fashion Show stylist Hollie Sorelle studied at the famous Laine’s Theatre School and has styled for numerous big brands including John Lewis and recently the Kellogg’s Special K campaign ‘Dress like the Stars’ where people are shown how to recreate celebrity looks.

One of the professional models Kayleigh Ross was born and raised in Paignton before moving to London to pursue a modelling career.

Kaleigh Ross, professional model featuring in the Princesshay catwalk shows said, “I really enjoyed modelling in Princesshay and my parents who still live in Devon came to watch.”

The free fashion shows in Princesshay were themed around strong, bold, bright summer colours and involved floral prints to create that perfect summer look. Maxi dresses featured as well as beachwear including straw hats which are very fashionable this season. The shows also featured a scene centred around the recent award winning film The Black Swan with dramatic ballet dancing and models wearing black swimwear from Debenhams and stunning jewellery from local independent Carol Anne.
