Legendary brand Belstaff is hot right now and not just because David Beckham is a fan (though we admit he looks so cool in the new ad campaign)

There are so many amazing things we can say about Belstaff.

One well, it may come as a surprise to some to discover Belstaff isn’t an Italian or Swiss label but actually has a British heritage pedigree.

The label synonymous with fearless adventure and free spirited rebellion was actually founded in 1924, in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, with the innovation of the first water resistant wax cotton, it soon became embraced by a group relishing the freedom and daring that the fabrics allowed.

Fabulous adventurers have worn the brand, from historical titans T.E. Lawrence, Amelia Earhart and Che Guevara to more modern names like David Beckham, Jemma Kidd, Sarah Jessica Parker and British trial racer Sammy Miller. Belstaff’s classic belted four-pocket jacket became an instantly recognizable stable for the racing set throughout the 20th Century.

Recently acquired by Swiss luxury conglomerate Labelux, Belstaff enters a new phase in its long history. This heritage brand has become centered around an identity of luxury sportswear and with expanded product categories including women’s and men’s ready to wear, outerwear, handbags, shoes and accessories.

‘About five or six years ago I was looking for a cool biker jacket. I went into this vintage store and came across this vintage Belstaff jacket. I have worn it ever since.’ – David Beckham
