Home Fashion Shows - The future of shopping?
Exclusive fashion shows in your own home could be the key to keeping your wardrobe one step ahead Words by Paul Mackenzie Photography by John Cocks
It’s shopping, but not as you know it. Exclusive designs from the latest collections by the very best brands are modelled for you in the comfort of your own home.
The luxury fashion shows are the brainchild of Abi Fisher, a former pupil of Chester’s King’s School, who stages the events in homes around the county. And while the high street struggles through the economic downturn, Abi think she may have hit on a model for the future of shopping.
‘The internet has completely changed the way people shop and brands are very open to other ideas and other ways to get their products out there,’ she said. ‘There are so many other ways to buy. People have said to me how hard it is to shop in this area now and more and more people are heading to London a couple of times a year to find new pieces for their wardrobe.’
Abi worked for Italian fashion houses before starting her own business earlier this year and she has sourced her collection from premium brands all over the world.
The 26-year-old, who lives in Willington, stages her fashion events in clients’ homes where they can see the clothes and try them on before buying.
‘As far as I know there’s no-one else doing this, certainly not in this area,’ she said. ‘The collection is aimed at woman over 35 who enjoy a luxury lifestyle in every way – in their homes, their holidays and their clothes.

‘The clothes are high end, very close to designer wear. They are all premium brands and nothing that is stocked in shops in this area. I buy only one piece in each size and people appreciate the exclusivity I can offer.’
Abi launched the business in February and is now developing a website – www.abifisher.co.uk – where her collection will be previewed.
‘My Spring/Summer 2012 collection has lots of cashmeres and silks, I tend to avoid synthetic materials and go for classic pieces with a twist, not necessarily on-trend pieces. It’s all about long-lasting pieces with timeless appeal.'
